Christmas – UK vs. USA
About the unit plan
When you have unwrapped all your presents and gone to bed on the 24th of December, British and American children are still waiting for Santa Claus. Celebrating Christmas on the 25th of December is a tradition in both the UK and the USA. Even though the British and American ways of celebrating Christmas seem much alike, there are some differences.
In this unit, you will learn about these differences, and you will compare the traditions with each other and with Danish traditions. You will read different texts with a reading guide and teach your classmates about the things you have read. You will watch videos, make your own Christmas news like a reporter, and deliver a Christmas message like the Queen of the United Kingdom. Finally, you will discuss Christmas traditions as if you were British or American.
