Humans of New York
About the unit plan
The world is full of interesting people, and New York City is no exception. In 2010, one man took it upon himself to photograph 10,000 of them and ask them questions about their lives. Both the photos and interviews were published on social media. Later, the photos were collected and published on a blog.
In this unit, you will get to meet a number of different people via the popular blog Humans of New York. The idea is for you to practise your reading, listening and speaking skills by learning about these people. Many of the people portrayed and interviewed on the blog come from New York City. Others are from other places around the world.
To evaluate your learning, you will be asked to sum up your work with a presentation of a friend or family member.
